The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital are excited to provide this fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals to undertake the Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) programme, delivered in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). This programme is a great opportunity for Health Care Support Workers to further their career within the peri-operative environment or for enthusiastic individuals who aspire to work within theatres or the post-operative recovery area.
On completion of this course, you will gain a Degree in Operating Department Practice and become a registered professional with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
This is a 3 year, full time course, consisting of clinical placements, along with online teaching through the Virtual Learning Environment provided by UWS. Your clinical experience will be predominately gained at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, however, some skills will be gained at other NHS sites. You will be employed by The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, receiving benefits associated with a substantive post. Course fees are fully funded by The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.

Entry into the programme requires:
- Passes with Scottish National Qualifications in five subjects including two at Higher Level;
- Passes in the GCSE/GCE in four subjects including one at A Level;
- SQA National Qualifications/Edexcel Foundation/SVQ Level 3 or above;
- SCQF Level 6.
- Applications will also be considered from those holding Professional or Educational qualifications at SCQF Level 6 or above or Vocational Qualifications (e.g. SVQ or NVQ) equivalent to at least SCQF Level 6 or above who can evidence work experience in a relevant discipline.
