Salary: Up to £32,000 | School-Based Teacher Training Opportunity

An ambitious and high-achieving secondary school in London is looking to appoint a talented Graduate Art Trainee Teacher to join its successful Creative Arts department from September 2026.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for an enthusiastic Art graduate who is passionate about creativity and eager to pursue Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through a fully supported school-based teacher training programme.

Working alongside experienced Art teachers, you will receive outstanding mentoring while developing the knowledge, confidence and classroom skills needed to become an exceptional educator. Initially supporting lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, you will gradually progress to planning and delivering inspiring Art lessons that encourage creativity, experimentation and self-expression.

The department celebrates a wide range of artistic disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital media and mixed media, giving students the opportunity to develop both technical ability and creative confidence. You'll also have the chance to support exhibitions, competitions, enrichment clubs and whole-school creative projects.

The school has a proven track record of developing graduate trainees into successful teachers, with many progressing into permanent teaching positions following the completion of their training.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A 2:1 degree or above in Art, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Visual Arts or a closely related subject.
  • A genuine ambition to become a qualified Art Teacher.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your creativity and artistic ability is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for inspiring young people through creative learning.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous but not essential.
  • The right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
