Job Description: Civil & Structural Engineering Graduate
About the Role
AECOM’s Bridges business line is undergoing dynamic expansion, having secured recent high-profile project wins that will extend our already impressive portfolio. We are seeking passionate, hardworking, and technically skilled Civil & Structural Engineering graduates with strong computational, mathematical, and design expertise. Our graduates will participate in diverse projects—from concept design to implementation—for a client base spanning local, national, and international markets.
Selected candidates will be driven by measurable results for clients while embracing challenging, technically complex work with enthusiasm. As leaders in the industry, our Bridges team offers wide-ranging professional growth in an ever-evolving field. Candidates may engage in design initiatives for UK or international projects across our offices in:
- London
- Madrid
- Italy
- United States
- Middle East
Additionally, you may collaborate on UK bridge network assessments, maintenance, or structural renewal projects for a blend of domestic and international clients. We deliver quality, innovative, and sustainable solutions using cutting-edge technology and collaborating across AECOM’s integrated services—multidisciplinary cooperation is key. Key international and domestic projects may include the Edmonton Arch Bridge, Jodrell Bank Telescope, North Manama Crossing (Bahrain), Thames Tideway, or Tower Bridge refurbishment.
Responsibilities
Graduate roles will see contributions across multiple bridge-specific disciplines:
- Structural Design
- Bridge Assessment
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Structural Inspections
- Structural Renewal Feasibility Studies
- On-site Works Supervision
- Scheme Management

You will progress from inception to delivery, including design, structural evaluation, feasibility assessments, consultation, and project督导. AECOM strongly supports graduate development through: project mobility, mentoring, and gradual assumption of responsibility.
Requirements
Essential:
- BEng (Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent)
- MEng/MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering (advantageous)
- A foundation in bridge or related structural design principles
- Demonstrated interest in bridge engineering and commitment to a career in this sector
- Willingness to pursue Chartership, aligning with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint): essential
- Strong technical communication skills (both written and verbal) in diverse settings
- Ability to explain technical challenges to a range of stakeholders (clients, teams, collaborators)
- Teamwork and initiative: balanced drive to collaborate while maintaining personal autonomy
- Dedication to task prioritisation and streamlined productivity
