Requirements
About the role
We are looking for two highly motivated university graduates to begin a career in claims within the marine insurance sector. As a mutual P&I Club, we insure shipowners and charterers all around the world. While our main office is in London, our presence in major shipping centers enables us to support Members regionally in close collaboration with our London teams.
As part of our claims team, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of claims for our Members. But we don't just pay claims. We provide legal and strategic support of the highest standard, drawing on significant in-house expertise and, because we insure liabilities, we often find ourselves participating in and directing complex litigation and arbitration in London and many other jurisdictions worldwide, working alongside external lawyers and technical experts.
Service is at the heart of what we do and you will play an integral role in promoting and sustaining relationships between the Club and our Members.
As a new recruit, you will rotate through each of the three London-based claims teams, spending six months with each, gaining exposure to our Members across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. To ensure you get a well-rounded understanding of P&I insurance, you will also spend time with our Underwriting and Loss Prevention departments, as well as gaining insight into Reinsurance and Finance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
