Graduate Consultant Software Engineer

Software Development Role for Graduates

  • Locations: London, Cambridge, Manchester
  • Salary: £45,000 + profit share

About the Role

The role is a permanent software developer position for:

  • Graduates
  • Soon-to-be graduates
  • Individuals without a degree but with proficient coding experience (Effective late 2026)

Key Responsibilities & Opportunities

As a software engineer at Softwire, you will:

  • Work within an inclusive, supportive team, solving real-world challenges for clients.
    • Possible focus areas: large-scale digital transformations or artificial intelligence.
  • Contribute to meaningful work that impacts businesses, people, and society.
  • Rotating between:
    • Project work (digital transformation, AI, etc.)
    • Structured training, fostering a long, fulfilling career in technology.

Graduate Training Timeline

Month 1

Software Engineering Induction

Equips you with essential skills for a professional digital engineer:

  • Coding fundamentals
  • Source control
  • Modern technology stacks Group Activity: Develop a software project (e.g., for not-for-profit organisations or Softwire). Guided by senior engineers and a dedicated mentor.

Months 2-15

Client Project Work

  • Join existing teams delivering real-world projects (in-house or with clients).
  • Operating in offices (or occasionally at client sites). Support Includes:
    • Access to colleagues/experts for guidance.
    • Peer code reviews accelerating skill development.
  • Optional Training: 3 months of part-time, off-project sessions (complemented by, if chosen, a Level 4 Apprenticeship). The Level 4 apprenticeship course spans 6 weeks over 12 months, covering:
    • System design & development methodologies
    • Additional technologies
