Graduate Design Engineer
Position: Graduate Design Engineer
Location: Campsie/Farlough
Hours: 39.75 per week

This two-year Graduate Engineering Programme gives you hands-on experience across key business functions, including Design, Manufacturing, Test and Development, Production, and Customer Support. With a mix of training, mentoring, technical projects, and modern tools, you’ll develop rapidly under expert guidance.
After graduation, you’ll progress into a permanent role in the Design Engineering team. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, your primary responsibilities will involve developing new and maintaining existing mobile recycling machinery—on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineered solutions for new product design and modifications to existing machinery
- Produce complete manufacturing specification packages, including Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOMs)
- Resolve root-cause engineering problems efficiently and manage engineering change processes for recycling plants
- Follow Group design standards, including QFD, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development, and field testing
- Use global engineering systems to manage released data effectively and ensure compliance with standards for safety, function, and reliability
- Drive cost reductions through design optimisation, collaborating with production, purchasing, and suppliers
- Address customer complaints promptly and investigate recurring issues
- Standardise components and sub-assemblies across products to improve efficiency

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Graduate or recent graduate with a minimum 2:2 degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles
- Proficiency in 3D Solid Modeling CAD software
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and numerical skills
- Eager learner with determination to achieve results
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively under deadlines
- IT literate
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Pro-Engineer for 3D CAD modelling
- Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems
- Advanced Excel skills
