Graduate Design Engineer
As a Graduate Design Engineer at Rotary Power, you will play a key role in supporting the design, development and implementation of innovative hydraulic products that strengthen our market position and drive future growth. Working within our Engineering team, you will follow structured design processes aligned to relevant industrial standards, collaborating closely with Sales, Commercial, Production and Quality teams to ensure new products are developed, tested and delivered accurately and on time.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting Design Engineers in delivering technical solutions and working closely with Sales teams to meet customer requirements.
- Assisting in the creation of detailed product specifications to enable the design, development, testing and approval of new products and product options.
- Developing structured project plans with realistic timescales for product implementation.
- Leading project meetings, providing clear updates, identifying risks and proposing solutions.
- Creating and developing design concepts aligned to agreed specifications.
- Producing engineering calculations from first principles and carrying out CFD/FEA analysis to assess performance, strength and integrity.
- Completing tolerance analyses to ensure design compatibility and eliminate interferences.
- Producing and updating detailed component, assembly and installation drawings, and managing bills of materials.
- Gaining practical knowledge of casting, machining, surface treatments and heat treatment processes.
- Collaborating with Production Improvement to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Supporting Development Engineers with testing activities, analysing results and producing technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Adhering to Engineering Standards and Change Control processes.
- Participating in After Action Reviews and maintaining accurate training and project logs.

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an analytical and motivated graduate with a passion for mechanical engineering and product innovation. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or a relevant engineering discipline) and will demonstrate strong problem-solving capability, attention to detail and a drive to achieve high quality standards.

- Comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Conducting engineering calculations from first principles
- Applying core engineering knowledge within a manufacturing or fast-paced engineering environment
- Sound understanding of ISO 9001 principles, manufacturing systems, process control and hydraulic systems would be advantageous
- Knowledge of surface and heat treatment processes
- Experience using SolidWorks and associated FEA/CFD packages is desirable
