Louvolite is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers in the window blind industry, and we are seeking a Graduate Design Engineer to join our Head Office team in Hyde. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, forward-thinking Design & Development Department within a fast-growing global business.
About the Role:
The role offers a varied and hands-on introduction to product design engineering. You will contribute to both the continuous improvement of existing products and the creation of new designs — taking concepts from prototype through to production.
The successful candidate will have completed a Product Design Degree or Industrial Design Degree and will be given the opportunity to apply and expand these skills. You will contribute directly to Louvolite’s design ethos by creating new and updated components used in the operation of window covering products distributed globally.
You will work across the full development cycle, including conceptual design, prototyping, testing, validation, and final component approval. In-house development provides valuable Design for Manufacture (DFM) experience and real-world exposure to manufacturing processes. Our on-site facilities also offer hands-on learning in injection moulding, steel pressing, and polymer extrusion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
