Graduate Development at GHD

GHD’s Graduate Program is designed to develop our future technical specialists.

During the two-year global graduate development programme, Graduate Engineers will:

  • Work with Engineering teams in Water, Energy, Industrial, Property, and Buildings sectors (both in the UK and overseas).
  • Contribute to projects that drive long-term environmental and community benefits.
  • Develop decision-making, communication, technical, and leadership skills through mentoring and hands-on experience.
  • Gain support towards achieving chartered status in their engineering field.

The Role: Graduate Electrical Consultant

GHD is seeking energetic, proactive, and forward-thinking Graduate Electrical Consultants to join our power team in our Newcastle office, delivering projects in:

  • Power generation (e.g., offshore/onshore wind, solar PV, waste-to-energy, conventional gas)
  • Energy conversion (e.g., Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hydrogen electrolysers)
  • Electricity transmission and distribution (onshore and offshore)

Key Responsibilities

Deliver electrical engineering projects in areas such as:

  • Power systems analysis (Grid Code compliance, network planning)
  • Feasibility studies
  • Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Concept Design for transmission/distribution networks and substations
  • Preparation of equipment technical specifications
  • Technical advisory and due diligence roles
