Graduate Electrical Engineer

Location: Glasgow / Leicester / Hybrid Remote

The Role

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you'll become an integral part of our engineering team, supporting the design and delivery of high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects.

Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you'll build technical expertise while taking increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.


What You'll Be Doing

You'll be involved in:

  • Assisting with the design and engineering of electrical substations across distribution and transmission voltage levels.
  • Preparing and reviewing:
    • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
    • Protection and Control Schematics
    • High Voltage Primary Plant layouts and elevations
    • Cable schedules and termination diagrams
    • Equipment specifications
    • Earthing (grounding) design documentation
  • Supporting engineering calculations and technical design work.
  • Participating in site visits, inspections and surveys.
  • Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, client specifications and utility requirements.
  • Working closely with civil, structural and electrical engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Preparing technical reports and project documentation.
  • Assisting with project delivery by monitoring schedules, budgets and technical progress.

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, eager to learn and passionate about engineering.

You'll have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A good understanding of electrical power systems and network fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and relevant industry standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
  • Previous experience in the energy sector is beneficial but not essential—we're looking for potential as much as experience.
