Graduate Embedded Software Engineer (IoT)
We are looking for a motivated and curious Graduate Embedded Software Engineer (IoT) to join our engineering team on a 12-month fixed-term graduate scheme, with the potential to move into a permanent role at the end of the programme. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone at the start of their software engineering career who wants to build practical, hands-on experience while contributing to real product development, issue resolution, and continuous technical improvement.
Working closely with experienced engineers, you will contribute to software development activities across analysis, design, implementation, documentation, testing, and release support. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior colleagues while bringing fresh thinking to embedded software development, particularly in the use of AI-assisted tools, automation, secure coding principles, and modern software practices in a real engineering environment.
We are ideally looking for someone to join us in August or September 2026.
What skills we would love you to have:
To succeed in this role, you should be able to demonstrate a combination of technical skills, relevant knowledge, and the personal strengths to grow in a hands-on engineering environment.
Core technical skills
- Experience with C/C++ programming
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages
- Good problem-solving skills
Desirable technical exposure
- Knowledge of embedded real-time systems, development tools, and software engineering methods
- Embedded Linux
- Developing code for microcontrollers such as STM32 and NordicnRF
- Knowledge of Zephyr RTOS
- Knowledge of low-level communication protocols such as BLE, UART, I2C, and SPI
- Exposure to reading PCB schematics and hardware debugging tools such as J-Link
- Awareness of secure coding principles and cybersecurity
- Interest in or exposure to AI-assisted software development tools
Personal strengths
- Proactive and innovative attitude
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
The Graduate Embedded Software Engineer opportunity:
This is a great opportunity to start your career in a role where you can learn quickly, contribute from day one, and build experience across the full software development lifecycle. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real embedded software challenges, gain practical exposure to modern tools and practices, and develop skills that are highly relevant in today’s connected product and IoT environment. If you are looking for a graduate role that combines technical depth, hands-on learning, supportive mentoring, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution, this role offers an excellent place to grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
