We help clients to manage health, safety, security, environmental (HSSE) and business risk in sectors where the impact of loss is high. We are seeking talented engineers who are graduating or have recently graduated to join our collaborative team based in Great Yarmouth and on site at Sizewell B/C.
Successful candidates will support the delivery of construction engineering, safety case updates, and project management across several major projects in the nuclear power generation sector. These include site-wide modifications at Sizewell B, civil engineering projects supporting the construction of Sizewell C, and safety case work for the EDF Design Authority.
Across Risktec’s wider South of England nuclear team, individuals also contribute to work supporting commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C and safety case documentation for Small Modular Reactor Generic Design Assessments.
Responsibilities
This role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting, dynamic, and rapidly growing nuclear team across the south of England. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the delivery of major construction-based safety cases.
- Providing specialist civil/structural input and advice to resolve construction problems.
- Facilitating hazard identification in cooperation with CDM regulations and optioneering workshops.
- Production of formal technical reports, safety cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
- Implementation of modifications to site, including:
- Supporting construction team and client during the construction process through problem solving.
- Supporting the build of safety case through justification of design.
- Reviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports.
- Authoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
- Support to plant operability, including:
- Condition monitoring and identification of plant faults.
- Supporting equipment reliability reviews, including plant walk downs.
- Reviewing maintenance routines/strategy.
- Management of projects, project teams and interfacing with clients.

As part of this role, you will gain a broad and in-depth understanding of risk management, design and operations within a large generating site.
Requirements
Disciplines Considered
We will consider engineers who are graduating in Civil engineering, or have graduated in the following disciplines at minimum BEng or BSc level:
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- C&I Control and Instrumentation
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Physics and Nuclear Physics
Other disciplines where modules have been covered in Nuclear Operations/Engineering will also be considered. Engineers who have graduated for over 1 year and have relevant experience will also be considered.
Security Clearance Checks
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have a suitable background and a valid UK working status that will allow them to achieve UK security clearance. (please note that this is very difficult to achieve within the timescales for non-UK nationals, and all applicants will be subject to a screening process prior to interview to ensure that you meet the security clearance criteria). By applying for this role, you will agree to undertake initial security clearance screening and will be asked to provide evidence of your eligibility for security clearance.

Other Requirements
This opportunity has high visibility and maintains a valuable profile for us through which you will form part of our client facing team as such, excellent interpersonal and written skills are required. It is also essential that you have your own transport and a clean driving license.
Travel and Location
This role is based at Great Yarmouth Risktec, and you will be expected to work between this site and Sizewell B and Sizewell C Power Stations. Please ensure that you have made yourself aware of these locations and that you have considered your travel and accommodation arrangements to and from work when applying. No hybrid working is offered for this role. If successful to interview you will be expected to travel to our Great Yarmouth to attend an interview.
Duration of Position
Full-time (38h/week) with an initial fixed duration of 1 year with a view to make permanent.
