GRADUATE ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST

We’re a dynamic engineering and environmental consultancy founded in 2020, and are now a team of over 80 experienced engineers, technicians and planners. We have our roots in the vibrant cities of Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield & Reading but our work extends far beyond.

We deliver structural, civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering consultancy, as well as extensive highways and transport planning services. We proudly serve a diverse range of sectors: Residential, Housing, Science & Research, Education, Ministry of Defence & Ministry of Justice, Healthcare, Industrial, Logistics, Retail and Leisure. What you’ll be up to
We'll make sure you have a solid introduction to the business and our people, to set you up for success. Mentored by the best, you'll then get stuck into a range of work across our vast portfolio of projects. The role will be varied and will include:
- Preparation of Phase 1 Desk Studies, and Health and Safety documentation.
- Assisting with the planning and supervision of ground investigation fieldwork.
- Logging and sampling of soil and rock samples in accordance with current UK standards.
- Site walkovers, site monitoring, earthwork, remediation and grouting supervision.
- Analysis of geotechnical and geo-environmental data, preparation of ground models, design and reporting.
- Preparation of factual and interpretative geotechnical and geo-environmental reports.
- Supporting geotechnical assessment and design work in relation to foundations, slope stability assessments, earthworks, and retaining structures.
- Liaising with contractors, clients, and project teams.
- Preparing and presenting project reports and updates.
- Supporting the delivery of cost effective, energy efficient and environmentally sustainable projects.
- Translating theoretical knowledge from your degree into practical design scenarios.

We’re looking for people who:
- Have a degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Have a full, clean UK driving licence.
- Have great attention to detail and are organised.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, report writing, data analysis, and computer software skills.
- Are self-driven, proactive and positive, with an ability to ‘own it’ and problem solve.
- Are committed to working towards chartership, with support from Hexa.
- Are committed to self-led professional development.
- Are collaborative team players and will play all in to support the wider team.
- Are willing to travel, and to work effectively on-site, in the office and from home.
- Are eligible to work in the UK.

It would also be great to see:
- MSc/MEng in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related subject.
- Previous site or ground investigation experience through employment, placements, or university projects.
- Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Slide 2, Settle 3, RS2, gINT, OpenGround
