THE ROLE
My client is a firm of engineering consultants with offices across the U.K.
They are seeking a Graduate Engineering Geologist to join their team in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in delivering geotechnical solutions across diverse Rail and Construction projects.
- Contribute to ground modelling, geotechnical design, and risk assessment.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering departments.
- Conduct desk studies, interpretive reports, and geotechnical deliverables.
Development Opportunities:
- Expand knowledge in:
- Earthworks
- Drilling & grouting techniques
- Contaminated land legislation
- Relevant design standards

Supporting Duties:
- Assist in project management, including:
- Programme and budget control
- Supervision and coordination of ground investigation works
- Support in preparing fee proposals, tenders, and technical submissions.
THE COMPANY
Engineering consultants specialising in:
- Building structures

THE CANDIDATE
Experience & Qualifications:
Must hold:
- An appropriate Degree in Geology or similar.
- Possibly an MSc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
Technical Skills:
- 1–3 years of experience with:
- Strong geology foundational knowledge
- Understanding of ground investigation methods
- Geotechnical engineering principles
Specialist Requirements:
- ≥1 year of experience in:
- Rail or Construction sector (e.g., earthworks inspections and reporting)
- Geotechnical reports (e.g., Geotechnical Interpretative Reports, Mining Risk Assessments)
- Ground investigation (planning, specifications, supervision and interpretative reporting)
- Specification & design of earthworks and geotechnical solutions

Other Requirements:
- Must hold a full UK driving licence (to travel to sites).
Motivation:
- Desire to pursue chartered status, with signposted internal support.
Salary Note:
Support negotiable in the £28,000 – £32,000 range (+ pension, personal healthcare plan, life insurance, 25 days holiday, and additional benefits).
