JDR Cable Systems – Graduate Engineering Programme 2026

Are you ready to kickstart your engineering career and play a key role in shaping the future of the offshore energy industry?

JDR Cable Systems is looking for driven, open-minded, and dynamic graduate engineers to join our team and contribute to the development of static and dynamic steel tube umbilicals within the Oil and Gas industry. You’ll have the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and push the boundaries of the energy sector, as we support the global shift towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

About the Role:

As part of our Graduate Development Programme, you will be immersed in a fast-paced and rewarding environment, working on innovative steel tube umbilical developments that are transforming the energy landscape. You will gain first-hand experience by rotating through various departments, developing key skills and technical expertise in Design Engineering, Product Development, Tendering, Technology, and Analysis.

With tailored support from our team of experts, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into different aspects of our business, including working directly with stakeholders at all levels. You will be challenged to demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills as you collaborate with colleagues and clients alike.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related fields) – or a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines.
  • Creative and solution-oriented thinking, with a passion for solving problems and tackling new challenges.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned work, delivering high-quality results to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams across the business.
  • A genuine interest in contributing to the offshore energy industry and helping the world achieve net-zero targets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
