Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer - Halesowen, Birmingham
Travis Baker, part of RSK Group, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their UK-based team, based in Halesowen, Birmingham. This is a full-time, permanent position ideal for those in the early stages of their career.
About the Role
This is an entry-level opportunity for a degree-educated professional. The role focuses on supporting project delivery through fieldwork, report preparation, and hands-on technical tasks. As a graduate geo-environmental engineer, you will develop crucial field skills, including:
- Accurate logging and record keeping
- Data entry, screening, and basic interpretations
- Report writing
- Geotechnical and environmental site investigations
Your responsibilities will include working closely with field techniques, learning compliance standards, and growing general industry knowledge.
Key Responsibilities

Desk Studies & Reports
- Assist in preparing desk studies, preliminary risk assessments, and factual/company interpretive ground investigation reports
- Contribute to technical reports and data interpretation

Fieldwork & Sampling
- Carry out soil and groundwater sampling, logging (to BS5930 standards)
- Monitor earthworks and remediation, ensuring accurate records for verification reporting

Technical & Compliance Tasks
- Organise and maintain site records and laboratory scheduling
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards
- Become familiar with key UK environmental regulations, including LCRM, BS10175, and NHBC Standards

Collaboration & Communication
- Work effectively with subcontractors and colleagues on project delivery
- Manage time, communicate efficiently, and take responsibility for tasks

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Proactively engage in CPD activities
Requirements & Qualifications

Degree Qualification:
- BSc/MSc in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline

Skills & Attributes:
- Strong interest in contaminated land and geotechnical engineering
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (GIS/CAD knowledge desirable)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (including occasional overnight stays)

- Problem-solving abilities and initiative
- Desire to learn, grow, and contribute proactively
