Graduate Geologist

About the role:

Greenfield Environmental Ltd is seeking a recent graduate or junior geologist to join our specialist geological consultancy based in Keyworth, Nottingham. The successful candidate will be working within our dedicated team of geologists that specialises in the UK mining and quarrying sector.

This role will include assistance in exploration and development projects within the UK quarrying and mining sector, supervision of mineral site investigations and undertaking resource evaluation of projects. Other technical work involves topographic surveying, field monitoring of environmental data and the analysis and interpretation of laboratory results. Due to the nature of the projects, the position will involve a combination of office-based work and on-site fieldwork across the UK.

Established in 1993, Greenfield Environmental, provides expert geological and geotechnical guidance within the quarrying and mining sectors across the UK. This position will provide an excellent career opportunity to enable the candidate to progress towards Chartered Geologist status.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Geology or other relevant degree (e.g. Engineering Geology/Earth Science).
  • Proficient in geological fieldwork tasks.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to be dynamic and use initiative to complete tasks efficiently as part of a small geological consultancy team.
  • Ability and flexibility to work in the field, anywhere in the UK.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word and Excel
  • Full UK driving licence or working towards test.

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of digitisation software such as AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of 3D modelling software (LSS) and/or GIS.
  • Ability to manage projects and communicate clearly and effectively with clients and drilling contractors.
  • Awareness of and ability to implement health, safety and environmental protocols whilst working in the field.
