Graduate Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineer

THE ROLE

My client is a firm of engineering consultants.

They are now seeking a GRADUATE GEOTECHNICAL / GEOENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER to join them in CAMBRIDGE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE.

  • You will work on a range of ground investigation projects.
  • Roles will include both site-based and office-based activities.
    • Specification, operation, and interpretation of:
      • Geotechnical investigations
      • Geoenvironmental investigations
      • Other duties as assigned

Good supervision and training will be provided.


THE COMPANY

My client is a firm of engineering consultants working across a range of projects primarily for:

  • Geotechnical
  • Geoenvironmental
    • Often in collaboration with other consulting firms.

They operate from multiple UK offices.

THE CANDIDATE

Required qualities/criteria:

Qualifications:

  • A degree in one of the following:

    • Geotechnical Engineering
    • Environmental Science
    • Or similar field.
  • Optional:

    • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Environmental Science)
      • After completing a civil engineering degree or similar.

Skills and Experience:

  • Eager to join a firm committed to training for diverse fieldwork, including:

    • Geoenvironmental investigation
    • Machine trial pit excavations
    • Supervising borehole drilling
    • Infiltration testing
    • Ground gas monitoring
    • Groundwater sampling
    • Research into:
      • Geological, hydrogeological, historical, topographical, and environmental site data
  • Motivation to learn:

    • Foundation recommendations
    • Ground conditions advice
    • Soil infiltration assessment
    • Contamination assessments
    • Remdiation verification procedures

  • Practical experience in:

    • Ground investigation planning
    • Specification & supervision of site works
    • Interpretative reporting
  • Ability to:

    • Specify and design earthworks & geotechnical solutions
  • Full UK driving licence is mandatory (sites require travel).


Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Salary: Negotiable (tied to your experience level).
    • Base range: £27,000–£32,000 per annum.
