About the Position
As a Graduate Hydrographic Surveyor, you will work with the project leadership team to support the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical and hydrographic data across a range of marine survey projects. Duties & Responsibilities
Under the direction of senior management, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the installation, calibration and operation of multibeam echosounder, sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer and positioning systems on a range of nearshore and offshore projects
- Assisting with the acquisition, quality control and processing of geophysical and bathymetric datasets, using QPS QINSy and other industry-standard software
- Supporting survey planning, mobilisations and equipment setup
- Contributing to survey reports for clients across offshore renewables, ports and harbours, nuclear new build and coastal infrastructure
- Maintaining health, safety and quality standards on every task
- Supporting other duties as directed by senior management that are deemed reasonably practicable

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
