Graduate Submarines Information Management & Technology

Location: Barrow (Cumbria) Working Arrangement: Hybrid and flexible — 3-4 days on-site per week Salary: £34,000 per annum + £2,000 welcome bonus

Who We Are

Join BAE Systems and you’ll be part of creating something transformative. As a valued contributor to our global network, you’ll harness your expertise to develop game-changing defence, aerospace and security solutions. Your role will directly help shape a safer future—whether at sea, in the air, or beyond.

From submarine capabilities deep under the ocean to advancements in space—there are no boundaries to the opportunities a career here could unfold.

Role Description

As a Graduate Solution Architect in the IM&T Product Fulfilment (PF) team, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify business needs, bridge technical requirements, and recommend IT solutions that align with strategic goals. Core responsibilities include:

  • Aligning IT initiatives with functional and organisational strategy/roadmap
  • Evaluating technological solutions to address existing business challenges
  • Presenting technical architecture to project stakeholders—clarifying design, functionality, and behaviour of proposed software

You’ll support demand management, business analysis, design decisions, and communication between customers, internal IT teams, and project management.

Core Duties

  • Demand routing: Attend demand management meetings to optimise workflow and align new requirements with the strategic roadmap.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Work directly with customers to gather and document their needs.
  • Solution definition: Break down features and phases into deliverable options tailored to customer needs.
  • Reporting: Compile weekly performance metrics and architecture documentation, highlighting key complexities in customer demand.
  • Design input: Participate in high-level design discussions to negotiate quotations from IT service providers and initiate new IT projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
