Graduate Intern, Chairman's Office

Why This Role Matters

This role will provide day-to-day support to the Chairman, Middle East & Africa in preparing catalogue notes and researching art works at Christie’s headquarters on King St in London. The role will involve liaising with key partners and clients to facilitate exhibitions, auctions and private sales as required. Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic are required.

How You'll Make An Impact

(Duties include but are not limited to the following)

Research

  • Art Market & Art History research, including for special exhibitions.
  • Writing catalogue notes for artworks to be included in written proposals, pitches and to support selling exhibitions and auctions, specifically with a focus on Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern Art.
  • Assist the Chairman MENA and the Art Department in building and preparing supporting documents for their sales.
  • Prospective client research
  • Assist with ad-hoc client buying research and requirements.

Administrative Support

  • Working with the Executive Assistant team to support the Chairman MENA daily schedule by proactive diary management
  • Assisting with travel arrangements and expense submission
  • Ensuring that messages for Chairman are passed on
  • Support by greeting clients, take to meeting room and assist with required refreshments
  • Managing Catalogue inventory by insuring the Chairman receives available catalogues
  • Liaising with IT to resolve any issues with office equipment
  • Maintaining stationery supplies in the Department
  • Responsible for collecting and distributing post daily
  • Arranging couriers, maintaining printers
  • Ad – hoc shipping requests and coordination
  • Building Power Point presentations as required

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • Language skills: fluent in English, with Arabic strongly preferred
  • Educated to degree level
  • Ability to demonstrate client facing experience
  • Superb attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work under tight deadlines
  • Team player, motivated
  • Strong IT skills with familiarity of all Microsoft packages
  • Previous work experience – either paid or voluntary
  • Interest and knowledge of the Arab world be preferred

  • 16 weeks full pay on Maternity Leave
