An exciting opportunity has arisen at Colchester Global Investors for a Graduate Trainee to join the Company within our Operations Team on an 18-month fixed-term contract.

The Operations Team is made up of two key functions: Trade Processing and Settlements and Reconciliations and Reporting. During the programme, you will gain experience across both departments, providing a broad understanding of the critical role Operations plays in supporting the firm’s investment activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to build a career within investment operations and gain exposure to a wide range of processes within a global asset management business.

The Role:

As a Graduate Trainee, you will receive structured training and hands-on experience across the Operations function. Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing an understanding of the integral role Operations team plays within an asset management business.
  • Assisting with the accurate and timely completion of Net Asset Value (NAV) reconciliations for UCITS, commingled funds and separate accounts.
  • Supporting the production of internal performance and attribution reporting for Investment Managers.
  • Assisting with daily cash reconciliations.
  • Supporting daily regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Learning about and assisting with the settlement of trades across client portfolios.
  • Supporting portfolio reconciliations and client reporting activities.
  • Gaining exposure to the processing of collateral, initial margin and clearing obligations.
  • Assisting with the processing of bonds and foreign exchange (FX) transactions and investigating settlement queries and exceptions.
  • Building an understanding of industry best practice, operational controls and risk management processes.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or be expecting to graduate soon) in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team but also have the confidence to work autonomously when required.
