Graduate Manufacturing Engineer
The Graduate Manufacturing Engineer will support the development, optimisation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of architectural metalwork. The role provides an opportunity to apply engineering knowledge in a practical manufacturing setting while developing the technical, analytical, and leadership skills required for a successful engineering career.
The position is structured as a three-year Graduate Manufacturing Engineer Development Programme, designed to provide progressive responsibility, hands-on experience, and exposure to all key aspects of the manufacturing operation. Throughout the programme, the Graduate Manufacturing Engineer will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support manufacturing and quality objectives, assist with new product and equipment introductions, and participate in projects that enhance productivity, quality, safety, and operational performance.

As part of the development programme, the successful candidate will receive formal training, mentoring, and practical experience to support their professional growth. This includes access to Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma training, enabling them to develop industry-recognised continuous improvement skills and apply structured problem-solving methodologies to deliver measurable business improvements.
Following a successful onboarding period and demonstration of commitment, capability, and performance, the Graduate Manufacturing Engineer will also have the opportunity to pursue a company-sponsored Master's Degree in Engineering, supporting both academic and professional development. This investment reflects SAS’s commitment to developing future engineering talent and creating long-term career opportunities.
Upon successful completion of the three-year development programme, and demonstration of the required competencies, the Graduate Manufacturing Engineer will transition into a permanent Manufacturing Engineer position within the business.

Main Responsibilities (Year 1-3)
Key Activities/Elements
- Managing and delivering small to mid-size process improvement projects from inception, delivery, to closure.
- Using structured problem-solving and project management techniques to support the engineering department in improving key performance indicators.
- Support production by resolving day-to-day manufacturing issues through the use of innovative solutions. Apply appropriate problem-solving tools & strategies where required.
- With support:

- Designing new functional manufacturing systems and processes

- Assisting with the design and maintenance of tooling/jigs/fixtures

- Analysing the capabilities of the current manufacturing processes to identify potential improvements.
