Graduate Mechanical & Electrical Surveying Engineers
About the Role We are seeking Graduate Mechanical & Electrical Surveying Engineers to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of comprehensive M&E asset capture, lifecycle, condition and dilapidation surveys across a diverse range of sectors. The role involves working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical services that meet project timescales and standards. Responsibilities
- Apply sound technical knowledge and maintain the highest standards of survey delivery and reporting to contribute to project success.
- Build strong relationships with clients, professional organisations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors, and internal teams while working collaboratively within the Mechanical and Electrical Services Asset Surveying team.
- Conduct detailed site surveys to identify, record, and condition-grade existing mechanical and electrical services using specialist app-based surveying software on tablet devices.
- Produce accurate and comprehensive reports describing assets and defects, reviewing servicing and maintenance records to support lifecycle assessments and condition ratings.
- Assess performance of building services across hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools, colleges, universities, hotels, and commercial premises nationwide.
- Undertake travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays (fully expensed), with workloads managed independently and in teams as required.
- Conduct a broad range of surveys, including:
- Asset capture and lifecycle assessments
- Planned preventative maintenance surveys
- Latent defect inspections
- Dilapidation surveys
- Perform environmental condition validation testing using calibrated equipment, assessing factors like:
- Lighting levels
- Acoustics
- Ventilation performance
- Humidity
- Room temperatures
- Heat emitter surface temperatures
- Water services
- Conduct accessible ceiling inspections, using ladders to assess and grade condition of mechanical and electrical assets above ceiling voids.

Essential
- Holding a City & Guilds qualification or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report-writing capabilities.
- Proactive approach to managing workloads and meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to develop new skills and knowledge.
Advantageous
- Experience with GoReport software.
- Previous experience in mechanical and electrical services surveying.
- Background in the building services industry, including:
- Engineering consultancy
- Maintenance work
- Practical installation
Technical Competence
- Sound understanding of British Standards, industry regulations, and best practices in M&E design and installation.
- Confident, approachable, and professional work demeanour.
