What is the job role?
We are currently seeking a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small multi-disciplined team of engineers to be based in our Inverness office. This role is office-based but will require occasional travel to other office and site locations as required.
This position is responsible for the design of mooring systems in the dynamic marine environment. This will include the analysis of the environmental data, design of the mooring system, and modelling of the system in a specialist dynamic FEA simulation software package. In addition, you will actively participate in the design, development, testing, and production of existing & new Gael Force Group mooring system products, as well as their associated design, test, build & customer documentation. Training in the specialist software systems will be provided within the graduate development program.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with specification of product requirements
- Participate in evaluation and selection of design concepts
- Application/generation of innovative ideas in designs
- Detail design work including design calculations
- Build up technical database for all design calculations
- Undertake relevant modelling, simulation, and testing of designs
- Generate engineering drawings for internal and external use
- Assist with production and maintenance of supporting internal technical documentation for production, servicing, and support of products
- Assist with production and maintenance of external documentation such as Operation and Maintenance Manuals
- Assist with development and undertaking product development testing, including production testing and reporting
- Improvements and developments to manufacturing methods
- Assist with preparation and amendment of bills of materials for new and updated products
- Work to all relevant Company Policies and Procedures
- Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records
- Visiting customer sites as and when necessary
- Assist with ensuring that products meet and/or exceed customer expectations
- Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders as required, including Production, Quality, and Sales teams, Suppliers, Partners, and Customers
- Support Sales & Marketing activities through assisting in product literature/website updates from a technical perspective

Essential
What you'll need:
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent substitute qualification (Engineering)
- Understanding of both Engineering & software systems, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and produce drawings in relevant engineering discipline
- Time management and strong organizational qualities are essential
- Willingness to travel and work away from home
- Excellent demonstrable writing and communications skills
- Good initiative and ability to work under a low level of supervision
Desirable
- Aquaculture knowledge
- Offshore marine environment knowledge
- Valid UK driving licence
