Costain Graduate Development Programme
Our programme focuses on helping individuals to learn a mix of both Leadership and Technical skills. We offer a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership in their chosen field. Graduates may have the opportunity, after the first 8 - 10 months, to rotate and work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, experiencing the best we have to offer across the different sectors we work in. Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.
Responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to develop the skills required to become responsible for key elements of work on a project, taking a significant role in mechanical engineering and technical delivery, as well as managing aspects of time, cost, and quality. You will acquire technical, leadership, and project management skills and experience.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Management of site operations to ensure safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, timely production, and customer satisfaction, including planning and sequencing of operations.
- Writing method statements and risk assessments.
- Supporting procurement of sub-contractor, labour, plant, and material resources.
- Providing team briefings covering operational requirements and performance updates.
- Implementing quality control and QA processes to meet regulatory requirements.
- Commercial and contract management.
- Supporting design development and design management.
- Providing scope and growth development proposals and work winning.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Possess a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Have a passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written.
- Appreciate project time pressures.
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
You will have achieved or are on track to have achieved a Bachelor's degree at grade 2:2 or above in a related engineering degree subject. Excellent organisation and time management skills. Possess a willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Have a passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets. Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written. Appreciate project time pressures. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
Please note that if you are invited to interview, we will require you to produce your passport and/or right to work documentation. As some of our project sites are based in remote locations, it is worth noting that you will be required to have the ability to travel to the site.
