Graduate Mechanical Engineer
Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION: Southampton TERM: Permanent SALARY: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
About the Role
The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally possess the following attributes:
- Degree: BSc/BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience: 0–2 years or more in industry
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD)
- Ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Experience with machinery and automated systems (advantageous)
- Soft Skills:
- Strong individual and teamwork abilities
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Willingness to develop with the company long-term
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office

Key Responsibilities
The role involves the following key tasks:
- Collaborating with the existing engineering team on multi-disciplinary projects
- Managing design projects from concept to completion
- Using CAD tools for concept design and technical drawing creation
- Developing component and assembly models to meet client requirements
- Working closely with manufacturing providers
- Producing technical documentation, project plans, and BOMs (Bill of Materials)
- Updating 3D models and drawings for design iteration
- Integrating parts into the MRP system
- Reviewing drawings for sign-off before finalisation
