Graduate Applications Engineer – Physics-Based Software Development (Oxford) ⚡

We’re looking for an independently minded Graduate Applications Engineer with a strong Physics background to join a small but impactful team of software developers, physicists, and technical specialists.


About the Role

This entry-level role brings together:

  • Deep technical expertise in semiconductor device physics and photonics
  • Collaborative problem-solving with existing and emerging customers
  • Versatile skill development across applications engineering, software coding, and physics-led problem resolution

Responsibilities

  • Customer Success & Applications Engineering:
    • Work closely with diverse stakeholders to diagnose and solve physics design problems
    • Provide tailored support and validation for our leading-edge software solutions
    • Act as a liaison between users and our small multidisciplinary team

Requirements

  • Education:
    • First-class or 2:1 degree minimum in Physics, Applied Physics, or related STEM discipline from a reputable university
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Clear eye for detail with analytical problem-solving skills
    • Inherent communicator (excellent presenter and technical writer)
    • Willingness to learn rapidly, with adaptability in both technical and customer interactions
    • Exposure to or understanding of device physics/photonics is useful but not mandatory
