An exciting opportunity is available for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, working for Northern Powergrid in the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire. This role can be based in various locations across the Northeast and Yorkshire.

The Commercial lead is a Fellow of the RICS and actively encourages those that desire to join the RICS via the various routes available. APC training plans will be put in place for those interested in gaining membership via this route.

Along with a competitive salary of between £30,000 to £40,000 we also offer great benefits such as; Enrolment into our pension scheme Annual bonus of up to 10% 25 days holiday plus bank holidays increasing with tenure Personal transport provision Double matched pension contribution up to 10% employer contribution

Key Responsibilities

Highlight potential risks and opportunities to the wider Commercial team Assist the wider Commercial team with final account compilation, submissions and Contractor reviews Assisting Project and Programme Managers with Works Order pricing Assisting Project and Programme Managers with assessment of tender returns Identification of variations and processing in line with Contract requirements terms Attend pre-start meetings with Contractors or Customers where required Assist the wider Commercial team in the management of disputes in line with level of responsibility Assist the wider Commercial team in providing support to the Operations business with Contractor performance management against established standards and business requirements Development of Contractor performance management reports for feeding into the Executive review process Assist with delivery of Commercial briefings and compilation of Commercial news letters Contribute to routine / monthly performance meetings between Contractors and the business units Frequent travel between NPg offices, depots and construction sites

Key Competencies

Excellent communication, report writing, presentation and IT skills Possess an appropriate qualification and have sound commercial and business knowledge Ability to work as part of a team Punctual, organised and efficient, with good problem solving capabilities Understanding of the utility industry Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Qualifications and Attributes

Essential Qualifications and Experience BSc Quantity Surveying Full, current UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience Registered via the APC for chartership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Experience in the utility construction industry Experience with scheme finance and commercial management Experience of commercially managing large framework contracts.
