An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in London is seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Religious Education Trainee Teacher to join its thriving Humanities faculty from September 2026.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for a graduate who is passionate about Religious Education and is keen to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through a fully supported, school-based teacher training programme.
Working alongside experienced Humanities teachers, you will receive exceptional mentoring while developing the skills, confidence and classroom experience needed to become an outstanding teacher. You will initially support lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 before gradually taking responsibility for planning and delivering engaging Religious Education lessons that encourage critical thinking, respectful debate and an understanding of diverse beliefs and cultures.

The department delivers a broad and engaging curriculum covering major world religions, philosophy, ethics and contemporary moral issues, helping students develop empathy, analytical skills and an appreciation of different perspectives. You will also have opportunities to contribute to enrichment activities, educational visits and cross-curricular projects.
The school has an excellent reputation for developing graduate trainees into confident classroom practitioners, with many progressing into permanent teaching roles following successful completion of their training year.
The Ideal Candidate
- A 2:1 degree or above in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, Ethics or a closely related subject.
- A genuine ambition to become a qualified Religious Education Teacher.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for encouraging thoughtful discussion and intellectual curiosity.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
- The right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
