Graduate Science Academic Mentor – Sutton (SM1)

Location: Sutton, South London (SM1)

Salary: £145–£160 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Are you a Science graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in education before pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, or child development?

A welcoming and high-achieving primary school in Sutton is seeking a talented Graduate Science Academic Mentor to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are passionate about inspiring young learners and helping children develop confidence in Science and STEM subjects.

The Role

Support pupils in Science lessons and across the wider curriculum. Deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups. Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging learning activities. Encourage pupils' curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM subjects. Support children who may require additional academic guidance. Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

Hold a Science-related degree with a 2:1 classification or above. Have completed GCSEs and A-Levels within the UK education system. Have achieved passes in both GCSE and A-Level qualifications. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be enthusiastic about working with children and supporting their development. Have the legal right to work in the UK. Be considering a future career in teaching, education, or a child-focused profession.

Suitable Degree Subjects

We welcome applications from graduates in:

Biology Chemistry Physics Biomedical Science Natural Sciences Environmental Science Forensic Science Engineering Mathematics or other STEM-related disciplines
