Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Liverpool (L15)
Salary: £500–£560 per week
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm
Start Date: September 2026

Are you a graduate with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Liverpool (L15) area for a dedicated and compassionate Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain valuable SEN experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Primary Teaching.
The Role
Working alongside experienced teachers and the school's SEND team, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive both academically and socially.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and other SEND requirements.
- Assisting with personalised learning and intervention programmes.
- Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to deliver high-quality support.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements
- A degree in a relevant subject is essential, including Psychology, Childhood Studies, Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Special Educational Needs & Inclusion, Child Development, Health & Social Care (Degree Level), Speech and Language Therapy, or another closely related discipline.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with any form of Special Educational Needs is essential. This may include experience with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory needs, complex needs, or other additional needs.
- Experience can be gained in schools, specialist provisions, nurseries, care settings, youth work, tutoring, respite care, university placements, or voluntary roles.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and a proactive attitude.
