Graduate Site Civil Engineer

With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing—and now looking for an experienced Graduate Site Civil Engineer to play a key role in our project delivery teams.
The Role
As a Graduate Site Civil Engineer you'll be supporting the delivery of civil engineering works working under the supervision of senior engineers and site managers, the role combines practical site exposure with opportunities to develop technical skills in civil engineering, construction practices, and project delivery. The role provides early-career experience in site supervision, quality assurance, health & safety compliance, and engineering problem-solving within multidisciplinary teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Technical Responsibilities - Civil Engineering Support
- Assist with the supervision and inspection of civil works, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, concrete structures, and associated civil infrastructure.
- Review and interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Support site setting-out and verification of civil works.
- Report non-conformances, site issues, and assist in problem resolution.
Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality & Compliance
- Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Support implementation of safe systems of work and permit-to-work processes.
- Participate in toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings.
- Assist in ensuring civil works meet design, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Support testing, inspections, and approvals of civil installations.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, check sheets, and inspection reports.

Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with site engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to support project delivery.
- Assist in coordinating civil works with other disciplines on site (mechanical, electrical, process).
- Contribute to commissioning and handover activities.
- Engage with mentoring from senior engineers and site management.
- Complete relevant training, both on-site and through professional development programmes.
- Develop knowledge of civil engineering standards, techniques, and project delivery processes.

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Degree (or expected degree) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles (structures, earthworks, drainage, foundations).
- Willingness to obtain site safety certification (e.g., CSCS card).
- Site-based experience through placements, internships, or practical coursework.
- Experience reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings and specifications.
- Exposure to health, safety, and environmental procedures on site.

Desirable
- Experience on water, wastewater, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Experience assisting in civil works supervision, inspection, or setting out.
