Graduate - Software Engineer
Reporting to: Lead Software Engineer - C-Tech Automation
Job Type
- Full Time (36 Hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering – Software Systems
-
Supporting the Lead Software Engineer, work alongside them on current equipment solutions ranging from simple inline production systems through to the flagship Poseidon system.
Entry point and progression:
- Start small with confidence-building development, using:
- Customised industrial PLC-controlled systems.
- Structured Text (ST) in Beckhoff TwinCAT environment.
- Small PLCs and IPC solutions (upcoming focus).
- Learn industrial EtherCAT networks:
- Connect hardware to remote devices.
- Develop expertise in industrial network construction for equipment.
- Start small with confidence-building development, using:

Ownership of development lifecycle:
- Software development, bug fixing, and testing.

Hardware integration:
- Build and iterate hardware to pair with software:
- Work with sensors, sensing systems, smart cameras…
- Handle cabling, connectivity, and connectivity challenges.
- Build and iterate hardware to pair with software:

Documentation & version control:
- Maintain GitHubfor code and materials.
- Produce well-commented and structured code.
- Support controlled revision and backup processes.
Project Engineering – Control Cabinets
- Design, assembly, wiring, and testing of control cabinets/backplanes to suit specific applications and safety standards.
- Requirements include obtaining local 18th Edition wiring qualification training.
Technical Experience & Development

Software programming standards & environments:
- Adopt structured, readable, commented coding.
- Use IEC61131-3, Python, and other relevant languages.
- Training at Beckhoff for system expansion.

Training exposure:
- Supplier-led courses to advance skills in industrial automation.
- Development of safety programming for equipment.

- Sustain a professional and engaging office/workshop environment.
Purpose
What We Do: C-Tech Automation is scaling their software design and development capabilities for agreements with simple to complex automation solutions — from inline production to chilled food manufacturing.
Heading Towards a Rapidly Expanding Role:
- Build confidence merging software programming with mechatronic experience.
- Contribute to automation designs from basic line-side systems to the flagship controller.
- Bonus factor: Enthusiasm for chilled food industry and sustainable automation ethos.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps/Power Automate) — solid facilitation factor.
- PLC programming exposure — learnable in-house at C-Tech’s provided training.
