About Francis Holland Regent’s Park

Francis Holland Regent’s Park is an academically selective independent day school for girls aged 11–18, located in the heart of London. Founded in 1878 by the Reverend Canon Francis Holland, it is one of three highly regarded independent girls’ schools within the Francis Holland Schools Trust, which also encompasses:

Vacancy: Graduate Teaching Assistant

Starting September 2026 | Full Time | Term Plus Two Weeks

Francis Holland Regent’s Park is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support academic, co-curricular, and administrative operations within the school.

Target Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in a university graduate with:

  • A major in English (preferred)
  • Consideration of a teaching career
  • Strong enthusiasm for excellent independent education
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach
  • Experience of working with young people

The role primarily supports the Drama and Music departments, so candidates should show:

  • A particular interest in co-curricular offerings
  • Enthusiasm for performing arts/music-based activities

All necessary training*—including Safeguarding and First Aid*—will be provided.

Working Details

  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, unpaid 1-hour lunch break
  • Term pattern: Term time plus 2 weeks during school holidays
  • Line manager: Senior Deputy Head
  • Salary:
    • £31,200 full-time equivalent (pro-rated to £25,500 circa based on role pattern)

Key Responsibilities

Academic & Curriculum Support

  • Assist across departments, with a focus on English
  • Cover lessons during staff absences
  • Supervise pupils at break and lunchtime (rota-based)
  • Invigilate internal/external exams as required

Co-Curricular & Pastoral Duties

  • Support co-curricular activities / plays/performances
  • Accompany school trips, including weekends and holiday periods

Administrative & External Commitments

  • Carry out administrative tasks as necessary
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating professionalism, care, and enthusiasm

Additional Requirements & Procedures

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Appointment subject to statutory safeguarding checks
  • DBS (Enhanced Disclosure) certificate and references required
  • This role falls under regulated activity with children, making it exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
