Graduate Teaching Assistant

Graduate Teaching Assistant Role – KS1 Academic Support ✨

Are you eager to gain teacher training-ready classroom experience? This Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) position in Key Stage 1 (KS1) offers hands-on academic support, delivering strong foundations for your future career in primary education.

Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant – September 2026 to July 2027

Location: Superb primary school, Central Wolverhampton

Rate: £85 – £101 per day


The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in KS1, you’ll play a crucial role in:

  • Providing targeted academic intervention and general classroom support across the national curriculum.
  • Assisting children to strengthen foundational skills in:
    • Early reading and writing
    • Phonics
    • Maths
    • Core and wider subject knowledge
  • Collaborating with teachers to:
    • Reinforce learning through structured activities
    • Track pupil progress systematically.

Your contributions will help children build confidence and attainment, preparing them for success in their education journey.

The Candidate

We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Patient, supportive, and articulate, capable of explaining concepts clearly to younger learners.
  • Passionate about education, with a desire to foster academic growth and emotional development.
  • Advocates for child’s progress, seeing this as a must-do before entering teaching.
  • Eager to build classroom skills, contributing to long-term educational innovation.

Note: Primary education helps pupils aged 3–11 years, so KS1 specifically addresses the early but powerful stages of development.


Requirements

This opportunity is based on the following criteria:

  • Degree requirement: A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect with children and staff.
  • DBS check: Must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain this for child safety compliance.
  • Purpose-driven mindset: Must genuinely enjoy supporting pupil well-being and success.
  • Career pathways: Aimed at those hoping to become qualified teachers as their next step.
