Job Summary

Could you help pupils who need extra support make better progress in class? Want a primary school role that gives you proper experience before you move into teacher training?

  • Start date: September 2025
  • End date: July 2027
  • Rate: £85 - £105 per day
  • Location: ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
  • Focus: 1:1 and small group academic support across either KS1 or KS2

About the Role

Deliver 1:1 and small group support across either KS1 or KS2, focusing on English and Maths. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strengthening core skills in pupils
  • Reinforcing lesson content
  • Providing guidance to children requiring extra assistance
  • Preparing simple resources as needed
  • Updating teachers on pupil progress

Teaching assistants typically:

  • Support the class teacher
  • Assist pupils in reading, writing, and wider learning activities

The Candidate

We’re looking for:

  • A patient, clear, and engaging communicator who can explain concepts to younger pupils
  • Enthusiasm for helping children build confidence in their learning
  • Strong desire to gain practical experience for a career as a teacher
  • Genuine interest in the educational, social, and emotional development of children aged 3–11

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Degree: A 2:2 or above in any subject
  • Communication: Clear and confident verbal and written skills
  • DBS Check: Must hold an Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • Desire to Work in Education: Genuine passion for supporting pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Career Goals: A clear intention to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education
