About the Company
Established in 2002, Thomson Keene is a market leader in technology recruitment and we are seeking driven, motivated individuals to join our team and embark on a highly rewarding career in recruitment. We work with a broad range of clients including the majority of the Tier One Investment Banks, SME tech companies in the AI/ML spaces, Hedge Funds and traditional asset managers so successful candidates will acquire knowledge across all aspects of tech/financial services. You will also have the opportunity to work with, and potentially at, our other locations (London, Dublin, Paris, New York). Our client base is continually expanding outside of financial services to encompass media, professional services, automotive technology and others.
About the Role
We now need a number of Researchers to join our Research team to help build out the firm's candidate base through a mixture of headhunting, networking and database interrogation. This is an entry-level role with a training programme that will last 12-18 months depending on the progress of the individual. You will learn on the job with directed training from industry leaders in this space on matters covering financial markets products, recruitment process and technology environments.
Responsibilities
- You will be treated as a key member of the team, helping to grow the company from Day One.
- You will not be expected to directly generate revenue after 3 months like many recruitment firms (but you will be able to earn monthly bonuses/commission straight away).
- In our experience, the best Recruitment Consultants are those who really understand their market sector, their clients and their candidates, rather than being thrown into the deep end.
- Progression is on merit - results are important but attitude and work ethic are given equal recognition. Not strict time limits, when you are ready you'll be promoted.
- We want you to become a fully fledged Consultant, earning at least £60k in your first year and then well over £100k beyond that, no limits, no constraints.
- Character is also important and everyone here has been hired as much for their personality as for skills. This is a team game, we are better when we work together and support each other.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Qualifications
- Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree, minimum 2:2 in any discipline.
- Other non-academic achievements will be valued highly e.g. sporting achievements, international travel, charity work as well as demonstrable evidence of working (and earning) outside of academia.
- Career-minded individuals will be at an advantage - we need future leaders who will be ready to support the structure of the firm as we grow.
Required Skills
- You must be able to articulate your interest in a Recruitment career and ideally have an interest in Financial Services and/or Technology.
- You must be a quick learner, flexible in your approach but prepared to learn your trade, rather than attempt to run before you can walk.
- Very strong presentation and communication skills are essential. This is a people business.
- Ultimately this is a Sales job so candidates must have a bias towards running their own "desks" and revenue streams, with a strong work ethic and commercial outlook.
- Prior sales experience would be beneficial but is not essential, but a sales attitude is.
- Candidates must be mature, self-sufficient and prepared to headhunt from target organisations and within target skillsets.
- Ability to work to aggressive time scales, quick thinking but with the ability to understand, and therefore affect, the complexities of each transaction.
