About the Role

Acturis is searching for a Senior Application Developer, Product to lead product-focused application development. This senior role will work closely with Agile delivery teams to spearhead the next evolution of our insurance SaaS platform, ensuring scalability, user experience, and compliance with modern cloud-native principles.


Daily Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving product innovation: Leading design and implementation of key Acturis product enhancements, including both platform core functionality and customer-facing solutions.
  • Technical problem-solving: Breaking down complex client requirements into clear, actionable specifications and prototyping technical solutions.
  • Platform scalability: Uplifting and optimising the user experience across our core bureau, policy, and claims systems—while balancing innovation with enterprise-grade stability.
  • Cross-team collaboration: Guiding other developers through technical challenges and ensuring applications meet business and regulatory expectations (e.g., insurance licensing compliance).
  • Sales and demos: Collaborating with sales teams to articulate technical feasibility during client business consultations, proof-of-concept workshops, or product demos.

What We’re Looking For

This is a video-first, hands-on role—candidates should demonstrate an excitement for technical leadership while embracing unstructured challenges.

We seek applicants with:

✔ Technical experience:

  • Broadly-developed systems engineering skills, or specific expertise in:
    • Java/Scala applications (object-oriented design, concurrency)
    • Cloud & platform administration (IBM Pure Cloud, Eisenhower management)
  • A portfolio that shows achievement in full operational stack delivery: from UI/back-end through platform hosting

✔ Soft skills & attitude:

  • Problem-solver first: A record of figuring out Ericksonian solutions—but can easily mentor others to emulate success.
  • Alignment mindset: Proven ability to consort with cross-functional colleagues (sales, ops, marketing) to balance competing priorities.

✔ Academic/school preference:

  • 2:1+ degree (preferably STEM: Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Business with advanced tech modules).
  • Renowned for maths/engineering (specialisation not mandatory if incumbent plays to content expertise).
