Role Description: Trainee Funding Consultant
This is an outbound, consultative telesales role, responsible for contacting businesses to introduce our commercial finance brokerage services and generating new business opportunities for our team.
For the first 1–2 weeks, the role will be based in our Southampton office for training. Hotel accommodation will be provided if you’re not locally based. Upon successful completion, the role becomes hybrid.
Purpose of the Role
Hilton-Baird is seeking hardworking, driven individuals to join our team of Funding Consultants and help UK businesses secure finance tailored to their needs.
As a key member of our telemarketing team, your primary responsibility is identifying and generating new business opportunities. You will:
- Outreach to businesses in our target market via phone calls.
- Introduction of Hilton-Baird’s commercial finance broking services.
- Schedule meetings or follow-ups with key decision-makers at potential clients.
- Develop and manage your own sales pipeline.

Key Responsibilities
- Cold and warm outbound calling to generate new business opportunities.
- Introduce Hilton-Baird and our brokerage services to diverse businesses while diagnosing their current or future funding requirements.
- Conclude a detailed fact-find, gathering business information and discussing funding options.
- Ensure strict compliance with FCA, GDPR, and company policies.
- Self-manage your diary to meet daily touchstone targets.
- Build rapport with decision-makers to extract critical insights in a compliant manner.
- Maintain a high standard of quality, professionalism, and courtesy at all times.
- Achieve personal targets on your Balanced Scorecard.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings regularly.
- Record all business dialogues meticulously and accurately.
- Assist with project-specific duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of a GCSE standard education or equivalent.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to engaged telephonic settings.
- Strong learning agility, ability to absorb quickly and thrive in a results-driven environment.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in audits and documentation.
- Proven determination to meet targets (touchstones).
- Excellent team player with solid interpersonal skills.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team dynamic.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, passionate about results.
- Reliable and punctual – attendance is paramount.
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
