About the Role
The Transport Planning Team at AECOM in the UK & Ireland offers exciting opportunities for graduates across a range of transport planning disciplines, including pedestrian/highway modelling, public transport, and spatial planning. Our integrated multidisciplinary teams deliver design, planning and consultancy from inception to detailed implementation, often alongside engineers, architects and master planners.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an ambitious team player to assist in developing and communicating innovative economic approaches for public expenditure analysis within a collaborative environment.
As a graduate, your early role will focus on supporting senior stakeholders through:
- Assisting in data collection and analysis
- Reviewing and building economic models
- Drafting infrastructure proposal documents and business cases
- Preparing reports, presentations, bids and proposals
- Attending client meetings, workshops and cross-disciplinary collaborations

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree (2:1 or equivalent+) in any of the following:
- Civil Engineering
- Geography
- Economics
- Mathematics
- MSc in Transport Planning
- Demonstrated interest in Transport Planning and career development in the sector
- Commitment to pursuing professional chartership with qualifying bodies (e.g., TPS, CIHT, ICE)
- Strong proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Exceptional communication skills—clear, confident, and adaptable for internal, external and multidisciplinary audiences (researching, synthesising and presenting technical topics intelligently)
- Enthusiastic, hardworking with strong drive, initiative and the ability to structure/prioritise tasks in alignment with team objectives
- Upstanding work ethic—collaborative, goal-oriented, and self-motivated yet adaptable to independent or team-based work environments
Desirable Skills
- A Master’s degree in (additional to the above fields) with advanced immunological credentials will be considered
- Module experience or practical exposure to Transport Planning concepts would indicate favore
- Practical experience with Python/R for data processing—handling large datasets and coding small models would be advantageous
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
