Reports to: Sensors Team Lead

Location: Dorchester, DT2 8QH

About Precision Acoustics

We are a technology company with a culture of scientific and engineering innovation, bridging the gap between industry and academia. We encourage creativity and original thought and operate a relaxed but purposeful working environment.

Based in the south-west of England in Dorchester, Precision Acoustics is a Coda Octopus Group Company. The Company was established in its present form in 1997 and is well established as a major supplier of ultrasonic transducers, hydrophones, acoustic materials and metrology products for the MHz ultrasound markets on a worldwide basis.

The role:

As a Graduate Ultrasound Engineer, you will join our Sensors & Materials team, designing, building and testing bespoke ultrasound sensors and acoustic materials for customers around the world.

Your work will contribute to technologies used in applications including medical ultrasound, non-destructive testing, underwater sensing and scientific research.

This is a practical engineering role with a strong laboratory focus. You will learn how ultrasound devices are designed, manufactured and characterised while working alongside experienced engineers on customer projects, new product development and research activities.

Initially, your work will focus on fabrication and testing, developing specialist practical skills before gradually taking on increasing responsibility for design and development activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
