Manager – Grants and Other Assurance | Grant Thornton

About the Role

At Grant Thornton, we innovate the future of assurance by driving ambition, challenging the status quo, and fostering change. As a leading provider of audit, tax, and advisory services, we empower our clients—but more importantly, we empower you with purpose, growth, and work-life balance.

With over 5,000 employees across the UK and a global footprint in 150 markets, we’re on a mission to redefine what’s possible in our industry. We’re seeking Managers with experience in local government to join our Grants and Other Assurance national team, where you’ll play a vital role in shaping our clients’ futures—from public sector bodies and government departments to universities and commercial organisations.

Our Grants Assurance team—comprising 30 specialists across the UK and India—delivers focused assurance work across diverse sectors. This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to make a real difference while developing your expertise in an environment that values you as much as it values excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on, varied assurance work—manage engagements across public bodies, government departments, universities, and not-for-profit organisations, including financial record examinations and audit procedures ranging from short-term projects to five-week assignments.
  • Client ownership—take responsibility for end-to-end project delivery, applying robust challenge and market-leading insights to help clients meet their regulatory compliance and business objectives.
  • Collaborative expertise—work closely with colleagues to deliver key findings, develop trusting relationships with senior officers, and build a strong internal and external network.
  • Continuous learning—develop specialist knowledge in grants and local government assurance, with opportunities to influence industry standards.
  • Business development—contribute to sales discussions and proposal writing, growing the team’s regional and national impact.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
