About the Role
Join a Creative Team Making a Positive Difference We are seeking a talented and imaginative Graphic Designer to help bring our brand, stories, and mission to life—from inspiring environmental campaigns to world-class visitor experiences. You'll play a key role in creating engaging visual communications that connect people with nature and encourage positive action.
Working within the Interpretation team, you’ll develop creative assets across digital and print platforms, supporting a range of projects that promote the Eden Project’s educational, environmental, cultural, and commercial activities. We're looking for a creative thinker with strong technical skills and a passion for purposeful design.

Role Purpose Roles within the Interpretation, Learning and Entertainment job family focus on enhancing visitors' experiences through:
- Engaging activities
- Exhibits
- Art installations and exhibitions
- Live events, learning programs
- Encounters and storytelling that engage, inspire and entertain, enriching understanding, skills, and enjoyment.
This Graphic Designer will:
- Undertake allocated graphic design jobs and projects from concept to installation.
- Produce a variety of graphics and signage to promote Eden’s events, exhibits, and activities.
- Effectively communicate Eden's narrative to enhance visitor engagement, enjoyment, and understanding.
Key Accountabilities
The role demands the following deliverables to a high standard:
Creative Direction
- Work in alignment with the Eden Interpretation Strategy, brand guidelines, programmes, and budgets.
- Respond creatively to internal and external briefs to generate compelling visual designs for digital and print-based platforms.

Technical & Artistic Execution
- Develop diverse design proposals, including images, layouts, and graphics, adhering to Eden’s brand guidelines.
Inter-departmental Collaboration
- Provide technical expertise and creative support to augment new features, products, promotions, and publications.
- Refresh existing displays, exhibits, and installations for engaging outcomes.
Print Production & Installation
- Operate in-house large format printers, including print finishing tasks such as trimming and mounting.
- Liaise with external print companies to ensure outsourced jobs meet expected standards.
Signage Management
- Monitor and maintain site-wide signage to ensure timely updates, legibility, and accessibility for visitors.
- Create bespoke signage using sustainable materials and techniques where appropriate.
Sustainability Compliance
- Ensure all designs and print materials comply with Eden’s sustainability standards and brand guidelines.
Demands of the Role
Education & Qualifications
- Required level: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Illustration, or another relevant graphic-based field.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven experience in delivering graphic design projects using industry-standard software.
- Strong command of typography, visual arts, and layout techniques.
- Demonstrating scalable design expertise evidenced via a personal portfolio.

- Artwork is viewed publicly on a large scale, so decisions must deliver impactful and high-calibre outcomes.
- Should recognise when professional advice from a senior colleague or line manager is required.

- Ambitious problem-solver with the ability to innovate, generate sustainable solutions, and collaborate with colleagues.
- Proactive approach to proposing creative improvements while acting independently and collectively.
Mentorship
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching for less experienced staff and apprentices as needed.
Communications & Stakeholder Management
- Regular engagement with internal clients across departments to translate conceptual design needs into tangible solutions.
- Liaising with vendors and external contacts, such as print companies, for execution.
Visitor Experience & Impact
- Artwork shapes the Eden visitor experience, serving as a gateway to communicate Eden’s ideas, activities, and stories on-site and off-site.
Operational Environment
- Primarily desk-based, with occasional physical tasks, including:
- Installing graphics on site.
- Administering large-format printer maintenance (e.g., paper rolls).

- Commitment to ongoing professional growth, keeping abreast of industry trends and software updates.
