What does the average day look like?

No two days are the same. One day you could be:

  • Creating graphics for social media channels
  • Producing artwork for digital signage seen across the railway network
  • Developing creative campaigns and communication materials that engage colleagues and support internal communications initiatives
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop creative concepts
  • Managing external suppliers
  • Refining designs based on feedback from senior communications colleagues

You will regularly work across multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring high-quality outputs are delivered on time while maintaining consistency with Network Rail's visual identity. A key part of the role is balancing creativity with practical delivery, finding innovative solutions that meet communication objectives and engage different audiences. There is also a strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation. Whether experimenting with AI-powered design tools, exploring new creative approaches, or benchmarking work against industry best practice, the role offers plenty of opportunity to bring fresh ideas and influence how visual communications are delivered.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking designer who combines strong technical skills with creativity, curiosity, and a passion for visual storytelling. You will have experience in a graphic design role and be highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop. Strong typography, composition, and visual design skills are essential, alongside the ability to create impactful content across a range of channels and formats.

Beyond technical expertise, we are seeking someone who enjoys pushing creative boundaries and exploring new technologies. Experience with AI-powered creative tools, digital content creation, or innovative design approaches will be highly valued. This role is not simply about maintaining existing ways of working; it is about identifying new opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and audience engagement. Strong communication skills are equally important. You will be comfortable working with stakeholders across the business, translating creative ideas into effective solutions, and confidently presenting recommendations when required. Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects would be advantageous, although a willingness to develop these skills is equally welcome.
