Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and outgoing Grid Connections Manager to join our growing team.

You will bring deep technical understanding of the UK electricity grid, a strong analytical mindset, a good network into grid companies, and a passion for enabling the transition to clean energy.
Working closely with development, construction, and asset management teams, you will play a key role in shaping grid strategy and driving project success from origination through to delivery of the grid connections.

- Technical Analysis – Manage grid studies, including capacity analysis, constraint evaluation, and network reinforcement assessments.
- Stakeholder Management – Maintain strong relationships with network operators, NGET, DNOs, iDNOs, consultants, and key industry stakeholders.
- Regulatory & Market Insight – Monitor grid policy developments (e.g., Ofgem, National Grid ESO), advise the team on emerging risks and opportunities, and engage in industry forums.
- Cross-Technology Expertise – Apply grid expertise across Solar PV, Onshore Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Grid Stability (synchronous condenser or similar) projects.
- Data & Systems – Utilize grid analytics tools, GIS, and network data sources to identify and prioritize new project opportunities.
- Value Engineering – Apply supply chain knowledge and innovation to reduce costs and timescales and optimize project economics.
- Grid Code Compliance – Maintain grid code compliance in line with the obligations of the connection agreements including meeting financial, technical, and regulatory requirements.
- Relationships – Build credible relationships with grid companies, regulatory bodies, and influence regulatory change.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
