Job Summary
As a Grocery Department Associate, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining high product quality, inventory levels, and customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities include ensuring products meet company standards and food safety regulations while actively fostering customer service and sales.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Stock Management & Storage:
- Maintain optimal product levels on grocery display racks and shelves.
- Operate a pallet jack to unload and reload warehouse trucks (Partners 18+ needed for equipment operation).

Inventory Control:
- Ensure proper pricing, rotation, and disposal of dated products.
- Check product quality and uphold strict food safety standards.

Cleanliness & Safety:
- Collect recycling materials (e.g., cardboard boxes) and dispose of waste properly.
- Sanitize workspace, shelves, and equipment to meet company safety protocols.
- Handle sharp objects (e.g., knives, box cutters) with care.

Customer Service & Support:
- Field price check inquiries and help locate or exchange items.
- Act as a point of contact for customer questions, complaints, and feedback.
- Display a friendly, welcoming, and service-oriented attitude.

Sales Promotion:
- Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales opportunities.
- Maintain an inviting, organized, and customer-focused store environment.

Safety & Compliance:
- Assess and remedy hazards or post appropriate warning signs.
- Report unresolved hazards to a supervisor.
- Follow equipment safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong ability to operate manual and electric pallet jacks (18 years or older required for equipment operation).
- Proficiency in handling inventory, moving equipment, and multi-tasking.
- Dexterity to gently manage fragile products.
- Ability to work safely with tools (e.g., knives, box cutters, cutters).
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
- Open to learning new technology and company systems.
- Willingness to maintain flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- High attention to detail needed for identifying and addressing safety risks or documentation.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements related to food safety, retail procedures, and company policies.
