Ground Investigation Consultant

Ground Investigation Consultant - Site Evaluation & Restoration

About the Role Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. As an integral member of our UK-wide Site Evaluation and Restoration team, you will support the delivery of a broad range of ground investigation projects, working across infrastructure sectors including rail, highways, and waterways.

You will collect, analyse, and manage site and laboratory data, facilitate site and task management, and prepare technical reports. A significant portion of your time will be spent on-site, delivering fieldwork, ground investigations, and managing associated activities—including health and safety documentation.

This role is ideal for an established Ground Investigation Consultant with experience in land contamination, geotechnical, or ground condition investigations, seeking to further develop their career within a global consultancy. You will collaborate across projects and sectors while expanding your specialisms in geo-environmental consulting, including land quality and engineering geology assessments.

Proposed Location: Warrington, Bristol, or Cardiff

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage site-based field investigations, including ground investigations, drilling, and sample collection
  • Coordinate supply chain activities and procurement to ensure efficient site delivery
  • Supervise field-based activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety (H&S) standards and revised British Standards
  • Conduct in-situ soil, rock, and groundwater testing and logging in accordance with UEAtc/BS 5930 standards
  • Collect and manage geo-environmental samples, document findings, and liaise with laboratories for scheduling
  • Prepare and compile site data for inclusion in Factual Ground Investigation Reports
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project outcomes
  • Develop technical reports, specifications, and documentation while maintaining compliance with Arcadis standards, legislation, and best practice
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with Project Managers, Clients, and Stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication on project progress, risks, and issues
  • Build expertise in Arcadis services, client industries, and sector-specific requirements to support career progression and business growth

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
