Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Ground Investigation Engineer based in Belfast, you will support the delivery of high-quality geotechnical and geo-environmental investigations across sectors including energy, water, defence and infrastructure. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to projects from initial scoping and desk studies through to site supervision and reporting. You’ll play a key role in ensuring investigations are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards, while developing your expertise within a supportive and expanding business.
Your Impact in this position
You will be instrumental in delivering reliable ground data that informs critical design and environmental decisions. From supervising site works to producing detailed interpretative reports, your contribution will directly influence project outcomes. With a strong focus on quality, safety and innovation, your work will help clients manage risk and deliver sustainable solutions.

Site Operations: Lead and supervise site activities including logging, sampling and contractor coordination, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.
Data & Reporting Excellence: Collect and analyse geotechnical and environmental data with accuracy, producing clear, concise and technically sound reports.
Health, Safety & Compliance: Champion best practice in health, safety and environmental management, maintaining high standards across all site and office-based activities.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, building strong relationships and communicating technical findings with clarity and confidence.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Degree in geology, engineering geology or environmental science, with proven experience in ground investigation including site supervision, logging, monitoring and reporting. Strong communication and IT skills, with a solid understanding of HSE practices. Willingness to undertake site-based work (around 50%, including overnight stays) and a full UK driving licence required.
Working Environment
Based in Belfast, with flexible and hybrid working options available. Expect a mix of office, site and remote working, depending on project needs. We support flexible working patterns, including part-time and job share arrangements, with site work forming a significant and rewarding part of the role.
