To support Amazon LEO, the Ground Infrastructure Services (GIS) Physical Security team is seeking a Ground Security Specialist for Europe and to support Middle East and Africa regions as part of the EMEA region.
The GIS Physical Security team is responsible for protecting people, assets, and critical services at ground terminal sites across the globe. They leverage security technologies, comprehensive risk management programs, and robust operational procedures to safeguard an expanding network of global sites to enable next-generation satellite communications.
As a Ground Security Specialist, you will manage day-to-day security operations across the Europe and support with EMEA ground terminal sites by advising internal customers on security risks, managing vendors, coordinating incident response, managing security systems, and implementing security risk mitigations to protect Amazon Leo ground infrastructure and personnel. This role requires effective collaboration with the GIS teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and security partners to deliver high impact security initiatives, operational improvements, and technology advancements.
Key job responsibilities
- Security Operations & Support: manage day-to-day security operations for assigned sites within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions, maintaining high standards for the physical security of Amazon Leo infrastructure and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Security Advisory: provide security guidance to internal Amazon Leo customers on security-related issues, focusing on enhancing the safety of personnel and the security of ground stations within assigned areas.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: work effectively with site leadership, Amazon Leo GIS teams, and peers within Amazon's security organizations to implement security strategies and operational improvements.
- Security Risk Management: support the integration of security risk management principles into Amazon Leo GIS operations, helping to identify and mitigate security risks at assigned sites to include site assessments.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage vendor-provided guarding services and system repairs within assigned areas, ensuring security contractors deliver quality services and meet performance standards.
- Incident Response: support crisis response, threat management, and emergency operations for physical security incidents at assigned sites, coordinating with regional security leadership and Amazon Security teams.
- Project Support: support security programs and projects within assigned areas, contributing to the implementation of security construction designs, improvements and operational efficiencies.

This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations.

Basic Qualifications:
- Experience working on physical security design and implementation of Access Control/Intrusion Detection and CCTV Surveillance systems
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security, Law Enforcement, Business Management, Accounting or related fields
- Experience in physical security management, law enforcement, or military service with direct application to global security operations, including risk assessment and management, incident response, investigations, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in security program and project management, including strategy development, scoping, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, vendor management, and cross-functional stakeholder alignment across multiple geographies.
- Experience leading security risk assessments across multi-site, global operations — including threat analysis, vulnerability identification, risk prioritization, and implementation of mitigating controls.
- Experience developing security strategies that influence organizational priorities, resource allocation, and long-term investment decisions.
- Travel 25% or more

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in physical security management, law enforcement, or military service with direct application to global security operations, including risk assessment and management, incident response, investigations, and regulated infrastructure environments.
- Professional security certifications (ASIS CPP, PSP, or equivalent)
